Works-For-Me-Wednesday-- Hot Wheels storage

Ticklebug is now 6 and is accumulating quite a few Hotwheels. Needless to say they aren't so "hot" when they are scattered on the floor in the middle of the room.

My solution is a plastic toolbox that he can store, organize and tote around if he so chooses. Because of the deep base he can also fit the car carrier in.

Talk about a good deal for $5 or $10! I got this in December at Home Depot but I can't find it on their website. This is a similar one. I would go for plastic rather than metal for the noise factor. Tool boxes come in all sizes so you could find a size that fits your collection.

If you need to keep him busy longer, turn it into a project of decorating it with stickers, paint or Sharpies-- depending of course on your level of sanity that day.

What storage works for you?

This is a great idea! We have a couple of those boxes that are made specifically for Hot Wheels but this would hold so much more! And so much cheaper!

Good idea..thanks for sharing!

My brother used to keep his in a fishing tackle box, which is neat because shelf after shelf folds neatly in, making room for lots and lots of cars!

That's a great idea! It looks like a good, sturdy tool box, too!

Great idea. We are inundated with small cars here, too, and he loves to carry as many around with him as he can fit in his hands and pockets. This would be a great solution for both of us - thanks!

A tool box is a great idea for all of those little cars. We have some boxes specifically made for Hot Wheels, but they are almost full so we might have to go to the toolbox method. My problem has always been storing the tracks the kids use to play with the Hot Wheels on. I finally bought a couple of under-the-bed boxes and put all of the tracks in those.

This is a fantastic idea! I love it. My 7 and 10 year old have quite the collection of Hot Wheels (and show no signs of growing tired of cars).

Thanks for the tip!

Great idea and so "boy". They (8 and 5) love their daddy's toolboxes and would feel so grown up with their own. This might even figure into a couple other toy storage fixes as well- you've got my brain brewing on this one! Thanks!
